FACT 1: THE EARLIEST TOYS!

Wooden toys are thought to be the earliest toys in existence. They were originated from Africa and date from the Stone Age (2.9 million years ago – 2030 BC) according to archaeological research.

 

FACT 2: THE INVENTION OF PLASTIC ALMOST KILLED WOODEN TOY MAKING INDUSTRY!

Wooden toys were the standard for babies and toddlers up until the first plastic toys appeared in the 1950s and soon became much more popular because they were cheaper.

When children’s play made it’s way onto the screen since the invention of smartphone and games, this means there’s less open-ended play and use of imagination.

 

FACT 3: ENORMOUS GROWTH SINCE 2013!

Since 2013 there is a noticeable growth in the popularity of wooden toys in the market since many parents became aware of the problem. Google searches for “wooden toys” increased over 400%.

 

FACT 4: THE EARLIEST WOODEN TOY WAS A RATTLE! 

Rattles are top on the list of toys found to have existed 3,000 years ago. They are still as popular today in early childhood as they were. 

 

FACT 5: THE FIRST WOODEN JIGSAW PUZZLE INVENTED IN 1767!

The main objective was to teach kids the concept of maps and geography. The puzzle was made of solid hardwood which was considered to be too expensive at the time, before similar puzzles made of cardboard were produced 100 years later.

 

FACT 6: NATIONAL ANTI BACTERIAL

Bacteria left on plastic overnight will multiply. On wood, between 98%-99,9% of the same bacteria will be gone by morning.
